At the village level groups are becoming stronger and more active. From the same
villages more number of men and women are joining the activities and importance
of home based and village based employment generation has been realized. Acceptance
of the non farm livelihood projects is on the rise. The organization is expanding
its work in same villages to create strengthened groups which will take the shape
of clusters in future and will be helpful for the home based industries. All the
groups are seriously working on their savings activities as they realize importance
of savings. Banks are providing third fourth round of loan and they also feel
confident about the groups.
|
|
|
In most
cases they do not wait for the guarantee from SAHAJ, which was compulsory in the
beginning for all the groups. Groups are performing extremely well at the village
level.

The average saving per woman or male member during a month is between Rs.25-50.
This clearly depicts that they are economically viable and strengthened groups due
to their continuous functioning. The organization has slowly prepared these groups
to the idea of federating them in the future, as it is the best way forward. The
structure of SHGs is the most basic form to be taken to the level of more organized
form i.e. federation; from the village institution level to a more cohesive larger
interest meeting body.

Cluster Approach
|
|
Realizing the fact that a common group working on similar craft and having income
levels at par face similar problems and challenges to pursue crafts on a joint basis.
At SAHAJ slow and concrete efforts are put together for inducing clusters based
on common needs. Technical, design, production and marketing related support are
handled keeping in mind their physical and mental constraints along with market
demands. The Common Facility Center has made it possible to have efficient production
at the cluster level with raw materials being made available on time and in required
quantity to the artisan groups in their vicinity. Also the new designs and technical
training could happen at the CFC without them having to travel all the way to Dahod
training center.
