Special business counseling skills training have been imparted for the key people
in the organization under the facilitation of Tradecraft Exchange, UK to enable
smoother functioning and better provisioning of services to these groups.
During the year 2006-2007 the number of trainings conducted at SAHAJ were 116; in
collaboration with DC(H), NABARD, Commissioner-Cottage, District Rural Development
Agency, Tribal Sub Plan, Gujarat State Handloom Handicraft Development Corporation
etc.
From amongst these trainings 73 were for skill development including 1766 persons,
40 trainings were for skill up-gradation involving 1002 persons and general trainings
were 3 involving 118 people. The objectives set out by SAHAJ and these institutions
while planning the trainings was to enable these trainees to be able to train further
smaller artisans in their groups / clusters. The methodology adopted was to identify
group leaders and skilled artisans from within the clusters so that the whole cluster
could benefit in terms of further trainings. Both practical and theory methods were
used to explain and draw their attention. The outcome of such trainings has been
such that a woman artisan gains confidence and is able to train in her cluster as
well as move to newer areas. Another outcome that has emerged is that she is able
to act as a resource person for other local organizations for trainings in related
or other fields.
For all staff at the organization, every morning meditation session for half an
hour is conducted.
